  17.    PlayHD is a 16-bit audio harddisk-recording package, based on the AHI-system
  18.    by Martin Blom. With PlayHD, you can do multitracking: play a number of
  19.    samples directly from harddisk and simultaneously record another (stereo) track.
  20.    Thanks to AHI, an increasing number of samplers/soundcards can be used with
  21.    PlayHD without re-writing a single bit of code. Even the Amiga's own Paula chip
  22.    can be used to play samples in a special 14-bit calibrated mode.

  24.    Features of PlayHD:
  25.  
  26.       - This version can now play up to a maximum of 20 samples at a time.
  27.         The amount of samples you can actually play depends on:
  28.            * Processor power: since all the mixing is done by the processor,
  29.              more channels can be mixed at higher frequencies on faster
  30.              processors.
  31.            * Speed of your harddisk and harddisk-controller. SCSI is
  32.              preferred.
  33.            * Samplerate: the higher, the better quality, but more data has
  34.              to be processed and loaded from the harddisk per second.
  35.            * The AHI-mode you have selected. Is it a stereo mode, stereo++
  36.              mode with panning, fast mode etcetera?
  37.            * The kind of sampler used. Samplers that have their own sample
  38.              buffers are heavily recommended.
  39.              
  40.       - A mixing desk provides you with realtime control over volume, panning
  41.         and mute per channel. A master volume slider and a stereo master-
  42.         volume indicator are present too.

  44.       - Full mixer-automation based on event-list: channel faders, panning,
  45.         mutes and master volume can be automated.
  46.  
  47.       - Full duplex playback and record: if your soundcard allows it, you can
  48.         playback samples while recording.

  50.       - Sample-editing with the usual features like cut,paste,copy,erase
  51.         range. Direct to disk, not limited by memory.

  53.       - Effects like Delay, Noise Gate, Chorus, Comp/Limiter, Amplifier,
  54.         Frequency filters and FIR-filters can be applied.
  55.  
  56.       - MIDI synchronisation: by sending a MIDI start-command and a
  57.         Song Position Pointer, you can synchronize audio with an external
  58.         MIDI sequencer. You can also receive MIDI start-commands.
  59.  
  60.       - Supports mono and stereo 16-bit AIFF-samples.
  61.       
  62.       - Possibility to do HiFi non-realtime mixing to a new AIFF-file,
  63.         thanks to AHI.

  65.       - A Time Line Display provides you with an overview of the loaded
  66.         samples and their durations. Samples can be moved along the timeline.

  68.       - A Locator window enables you to set 4 cue-points.
  69.       
  70.       - A time-slider in the Tape Deck window allows for fast locating in
  71.         the recording.
